Frozen Insanity

Photobucket This is basically the happiest dessert I've ever made. That's because I made it for the sole reason of CELEBRATING the new blog design created by Leigh Ann at Freckled Nest Design. Frozen Insanity via Blooming on Bainbridge When I thought about what kind of dessert would honor the JOY I feel it had to be frozen. Nothing tickles my fancy more than frozen cookies and ice cream. This dessert is layered with all of my favorite things. Photobucket Not to mention it totally represents local goodness! Photobucket Fran's Chocolates are local to the Seattle area! Fran is famous for her award-winning Gray Salted Caramels. Fran loves to celebrate life thus it's very appropriate that this happy dessert would have Fran's Dark Chocolate and Caramel Sauce drizzled between the yummy layers.Photobucket As fun as it is to create your very own dessert, there's a problem. It means you have to give the dessert a name. At first I was thinking of names like "Sprinkle Cake" or "JOY Cake!" I know. Corrrrrrny! I was even texting Bridget asking her what she thought I should name it. Being that I'm trying not to eat sugar, I gave this frozen creation to some good friends. Not too long after I delivered the dessert they called. Don't you just LOVE friends who call to ooooooh and aaaaaw over the good food you make? They asked if I had named the dessert. I had to smile considering I had been pondering names that would do it justice. The friend explained that after she took the first bite, the only thing she could say was, "THAT'S INSANE!" She made me promise I wouldn't name the dessert some silly name that didn't represent it's INSANITY! I totally didn't mention the CORNY names I'd been coming up with. I mean who names a dessert like this "Sprinkle Cake?" Please!
Not me.
So there you have it. That's how FROZEN INSANITY came to be.
Let's get to it~shall we?
Here's what you need: Photobucket 1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream {softened a bit}
8 ounces Cool Whip
1 large pack of Oreos
1 large box sugar cones
Dark Chocolate or Chocolate Sauce
Caramel Sauce
Sprinkles
Begin with a 9" x 13" pan. {I used a pan with rounded corners. DON'T DO THIS. It will be much easier to slice if you use a pan squared at the corners.}
Put the Oreos in a food processor. Photobucket Process the Oreos to crumbles.
Now take the sugar cones. Photobucket Put the sugar cones in the food processor. Photobucket Process sugar cones to crumbles.
Now you have Oreo crumbs and sugar cone crumbs. Photobucket Take the ice cream and the cool whip. Photobucket Dump ice cream in a mixing bowl. Photobucket Dump the Cool Whip in the bowl. Photobucket Whip the ice cream and Cool Whip together. Photobucket Guess what this does? It creates the dreamiest DAIRY QUEEN like ice cream EVER!
Now let's layer the INSANITY!
Press the Oreos in the bottom of pan. Photobucket Drizzle the Oreo layer with chocolate sauce. Fran's Dark Chocolate sauce adds to the INSANITY~
trust me. Top the chocolate sauce with a layer of ice cream/Cool Whip. Photobucket Photobucket Now layer with sugar cone crumbs. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Drizzle with caramel sauce. Top with another layer of ice cream/Cool Whip. Photobucket Sprinkle with sprinkles. Photobucket Freeze overnight.
This is key. If you don't freeze overnight the dessert will not slice well and be as frozen as you'd like for serving.
Believe me.
It's worth the wait.
Slice right before serving. Make sure you slice all the way to the bottom of the layers. Photobucket Can you get over this frozen dessert!
Honestly. The BEST frozen dessert EVER! Photobucket Serve it to celebrate!
Everyone will LOVE it! Photobucket Frozen Insanity!
It's insane!
I'm NOT kidding.

  9. Oh my honkin' goodness! We made this for our Sunday evening dessert and my kids want this for their birthdays instead of chocolate cake! I may sneak another piece now that my kids are asleep! We also tried your chicken pot pie last week--another item to add to our menu! Thank you!
