Several weeks ago I was invited to attend a baby shower in honor of one of my favorite California friends Jenny, the sunshiney author of Picky Palate!
Jenny is one of the cutest girls ever and the release of her yummy cookbook is right around the corner! When I RSVP~ed "yes" to the invite, I had no idea Blooming on Bainbridge would be under construction with Freckled Nest creating the new blog design {which I'm absolutely head over hills in love with and will rave about later}.
In honor of Jenny and her new bundle of JOY, who is due like RIGHT NOW, I made these happy Pom Pom Cupcakes!
For the vanilla cupcakes I used TidyMom's Perfect Cupcake recipe. Honestly. It never ever fails. The cupcakes always turn out perfect!
For the frosting I used Shelly's Marshmallow Buttercream.

This frosting is heavenly. Who doesn't love frosting made with Marshmallow Fluff!
For decorating the cupcakes you'll need:
For making the pom-pom balls you'll need:
Begin with 4 sheets of tissue paper.Try and find good quality tissue paper. If the tissue paper is really thin it makes pulling the layers apart tedious and frustrating because the tissue tears and you begin stomping your feet on the floor and pitching hissy~fits!
Fold and cut until you have a stack of tissue paper that measures approximately {but doesn't have to be exact} 5" x 7".
Now begin at the bottom folding back and forth accordion style creating 1 inch folds.
Fold 6 times creating 6 folds.
Now you'll cut the extra tissue paper from the folds.
Fold the folded strip in half creating a middle point mark.
Wrap a thin piece of craft wire around the middle point and snip the ends of wire.
Measure 1 1/2" up from middle and cut a rounded/scalloped edge.
This creates a scalloped edge for the pom pom.
Hold the pom pom in one hand spreading tissue paper layers/folds apart.
Gently begin to pull the layers upwards and apart.
Separating the layers GENTLY is key. Try not to get frustrated if the tissue tears. Once the pom pom ball is nice and full you can't even tell if there is torn tissue.
Heat up the glue gun.
Flip the pom pom ball over.
Glue one of the lollipop sticks into a fold in the pom pom.
How cute and easy is that!
Cut the ribbon and tie.
There you have it!
The cutest ever pom pom balls for cupcakes!
Stick the pom pom balls with ribbons right in the cupcake! Sit the cupcakes in the fridge for a bit to secure the cupcakes before serving.
Seriously! These Pom Pom Cupcakes are so absolutely adorable I could barely contain myself while I was making them! I was wishing all of us girls were together so we could laugh and celebrate Jenny and enjoy all the yummy goodies that everyone made!
Just look at the yummy~ness!
