Cherry Delight

In honor of President's Day I present to you one of the yuMMiest~
most scrumptious~
most delectable desserts
you'll ever put your mouth around.
Cherry Delight!
Cherry Delight is one of my Mother's favorite desserts!
I grew up on Cherry Delight.
Mother always made it for holidays~and gatherings.
I'm not sure she ever made it for President's Day but seeing that George chopped down the
cherry tree I think it totally fits the occasion.
Here's what you need to make this mouth~watering dessert.
It's easy~peasy!
Graham Cracker Crust:
3 1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
3/4 heaping cup sugar
1 cup melted butter

Cream Cheese Filling & Cherry Topping:
8 oz. cream cheese {softened}
1 lb. powdered sugar {sifted}
15 or so ounces {large} Cool~Whip
1 large can cherry pie filling

Toppings:
Sweetened Heavy Whipping Cream
Maraschino Cherries and cherry juice
Toasted pecans

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Lightly spray 9 x 13 pan.
Begin by making the graham cracker crust.
Mix graham cracker crumbs with sugar.
Pour in melted butter.
Gently mix together.
Pour the mixture in pan.
Press graham cracker crumbs in bottom of pan.
Bake at 375 degrees for 8 - 10 minutes until slightly golden.
Place crust in the fridge to cool.
Whip up the cream cheese filling.
Using an electric mixer whip the cream cheese.
Gradually add sifted powdered sugar.
Whip it up.
Add the Cool~Whip to the cream cheese and powdered sugar.
Keep whipping until smooth and creamy.
When graham cracker crust is cool~
spread the cream cheese filling atop the crust.
Top cream cheese filling with Cherry Pie filling.
Spread evenly.
Cover and chill for several hours or overnight.
Before serving whip up heavy cream for topping.
You can also top with more Cool~Whip.
You'll need cherry juice~ cherries~ and toasted pecans for toppings.
{Toppings are optional~but add to the yuMMiness!}
Slice it up.
Plate it up!
Add the toppings.
Congratulate yourself!
You've just made one of the yuMMiest desserts EVER!
And celebrated President's Day too!
George would be proud!
He did chop down that CHERRY tree...didn't he?
ENJOY the day!

  8. Hi Girlfriend!

I've been MIA lately....lots going on for me, all good, but tiring. I haven't had much time to visit, but I'm up early this morning and thought I'd get in a little blog time while I drank my coffee.

Gosh your dessert looks so yummy! Thanks for the recipe. I'll file it away for now 'cause I'm watching what I eat. Sigh, but I've lost almost 10 pounds! Just a few more....

    Hugs,
    Kat
