Wanna See the HOMESTEAD?

This is The Homestead.
We call it The Homestead...because it's several different homes...
one big...two not so big...on the same piece of land.
We also call it The Homestead because it truly is the place...we all call HOME.
We also call it "the country."
Greg and I got married here.
For the location of the wedding...the invitation read:
"in the country."
We spend our summers here!
During the summer...we all congregate..."in the country."
We do the same things every summer.
We swim...we eat fresh vegetables...we swim....we walk...we fish in the pond...we workout...we swim...
we bake...we tye~dye tee shirts...we go on frog hunts...we build bon~fires...we paint rocks...
we wear the same things over and over each day...and we take a bath on Sundays.
It's kind of like SUMMER~CAMP.
The husbands come to "the country" on the weekends.
My parent's live "in the country!"
Are you following me? ;o)
This is The Fire Pit.
This is where we have our bon~fires.
We also shoot fireworks here!
Greg proposed to me at The Fire Pit!
We were sitting right there.
Right there on that bench...and he asked me to marry him and gave me a ring!
Can you believe that!
Well he did!
We have lots of kitties and dogs that roam the property.
This is BEAR...my favorite kitty!
And that's Henry...standing by my Mother.
Henry found paradise when he followed my parents home from a walk 12 years ago.
This is The OLD Truck!
Did you know that most homes...way out IN THE COUNTRY...
have an OLD truck parked in the yard!?
This is the truck that is used to haul all the leaves away!
This is The Cabin and The Storage Barn.
The Cabin and The Storage Barn were built about 200 yards from the house...in the woods.
I love The Cabin.
When I go out to The Cabin...I feel like I'm on holiday at a LODGE!
We play games in The Cabin.
This is one of my favorite paintings by my brother!
He's an artist you know.
I really wanted to bring this painting with me to Bainbridge Island!
But I let it stay in the cabin.
The cabin sits way up in the trees.
And you can see the property from it's windows.
When every one comes HOME for the holidays...Melly and her hubby sleep in The Cabin!
It can be very romantic...in a RUSTIC sort of way!
So there you have it!
That's The Cabin!
And this is the view to The House...from The Cabin.
This is the WINTER look!
It's very GREEN in the SUMMER!
This is the CRAFT~SHACK!
We do lots of SUMMER CRAFTS in this little shingled hut!
Once everyone in the family painted their faces on 12x12 inch pieces of wood.
Now all of those self~portraits are hanging in the den...in The House.
This is THE TRUCK!
Can you believe EVERYTHING has a name!
Well believe it or not...everything does have a name!
How weird is that!
Oh well!
Guess we've named everything without even realizing it!
Do you name things at your house?
I hope you enjoyed the tour of THE HOMESTEAD!
I'll be featuring The House and The Apartment later!
I just LOVE HOME...don't YOU!

    Love the quilts!
Our cabin is a little chilly right now, but we try to use it a couple times in the winter. We heat it with a wood stove!

  16. Hello Teresa- For some reason I can't open your blog at work anymore..it is forbidden...did you put something NAUGHTY on your blog...cuz I could always open it before...just sayin....LOL No..it is probably attached to some advertiser that sets off an alarm somewhere.. ANYWAY..

I love your home. It is the perfect place to get away..and how wonderful to have family and a Mom there to enjoy it with you. Will you go home in the summer too?

How wonderful that you were able to share your wedding vows in such a special, beautiful place. I'm sure it was very hard to leave there and move to Washington. I can tell that, in many ways, your heart is still there..back there..back home.

I love the little cabin too. How perfect is that! I can't wait to see more! Hugs- Diana

  18. No wonder you love coming HOME! No wonder you were proposed too by the firepit, on that bench, in the country, at HOME. No wonder you got married in the country, at HOME. No wonder you spend your summers in the country at HOME. Just wondering if when Greg proposed he was hoping you'd say *yes, as long as we can live here at HOME, in the country!

P.S. Your brother's work is wonderful.
P.P.S. Thought for a second there was a dead raccoon on the end of the bed of the truck then I realized it was Henry!
