On Monday it SNOWED in the Northwest!
An ARTIC~BLAST blew in!
It was the first SNOW of the season!
I was LOVING the LOVELy~ness of it all!
I was LOVING it...til we lost power!
More on HOW LONG we were without power in a future post!
Let's talk SNOW!
When I was little...
and it SNOWED...
we always made SNOW ICE CREAM!
Yep!
That's right!
SNOW ICE CREAM!
One of my absolute favorite TREATS in the world!
And I'm NOT kidding you!
You will need:
Snow...of course! ;o)
Just pop outside and scoop up some really CLEAN snow.
You also need:
Milk~Vanilla~Sugar (I used Splenda)~ and an Egg (optional).
Begin with a big bowl...
and a whisk.
Begin with the egg!
Now let me say.
The egg...is completely optional.
If a raw egg seems weird and unsafe to you...leave it out!
But I was raised on raw eggs in ice cream...and I'm as HEALTHY as Horse!
THINK~ROCKY!
Remember when ROCKY cracked open those 6 raw eggs and drank them for breakfast
when he was training for his big boxing match!
Raw eggs don't bother me!
But that's me...not you!
So leave the egg out if you like. ;o)
If you use it...whisk it!
Then add about 2 cups of milk.
Whisk away!
Whisk til it's nice and BUBBLY!
Now add the vanilla!
There's no exact amount!
After all...it's SNOW ICE CREAM...anything goes!
Be PLAYFUL!
Add as much as you like!
WHISK a bit more!
Take a WHIFF!
O~M~Goodness!
I LOVE the sweet smell of milk and vanilla!
It makes my HEART go pitter~pat!
Now add the sugar!
I must admit...I used Splenda!
You could add some organic un~refined sugar!
Now that would be heavenly!
Or...HONEY...or maple syrup!
Why didn't I think of that!
Now keep on whisking and whipping!
I love the BUBBLES!
Let's you know something really HAPPY is HAPPENIN'!
Now get ready!
Here comes the FUN part!
Oh yeah!
Here COMES THE SNOW!
Scoop it out!
You're gonna LOVE this!
Honestly!
I was GIDDY when I was whipping this up!
If you find any fir~tree twigs in your SNOW...just pick them out!
Or leave them in...for a CRUNCH of nature!
I don't think a twig of evergreen ever hurt anyone...do you! ;o)
And adding more SNOW!
Can you BELIVE how good this looks!
And it smells...DIVINE!
Guess it's all that VANILLA I added!
I LOVE vanilla!
YuMMMMMMy!
SLUSHY!
Just like I like it!
Scoop it up...in a FANCY glass!
And if you're in a really HAPPY~PLAYFUL mood...
Add SPRINKLES!
Oh yeah!
I just LOVE fancy~ing up SNOW ICE CREAM!
And guess who else LOVES snow ice cream!
Yep!
You guessed it!
You KNOW this fur~ball just had to have some SNOW ICE CREAM!
Doogan loves it as much as I do!
And if your sweet~man is at work!
And your power is OUT (more on that later).
And you wanna be sweet...and serve him SNOW~Ice Cream when he comes home.
Well no~worries about a freezer!
Look what you can do!
Sit your big bowl out in the SNOW...and keep it cold...til your MAN gets home!
He will LOVE you MORE!
Pinky~promise!
Happy~Happy~Happy Holidays!
Wishing you all...SPRINKLES of MAGIC!
Can you BELIEVE it's almost Christmas!
Have you ever made SNOW ICE CREAM?
I'd just LOVE to know!

I don't know if I can wait!!!! This is just too amazing.
Thank you thank you....
You are one busy gal....congratulations on BLOOM...I sooooo want some of your cookies. I was so happy to have that sweet little Smilebox waiting for me.
Ok....I wish we lived closer...we could have a cookie exchange. How fun would that be?!!!
Oh I sent my Molly some cookies all the way to the UK....I hope they make it there...I really packaged them well.
Must go sweet one...I have some school work to do..it really must get done...I had planned to do it first thing this morning...and here it is 8pm....12 hours later and I have still not started.
xoxoxoxoxxo Thanks for making my day. xoxoxoxxox
I've heard of it but have never made it and I am in the snow capitol of the world!!!! I am definitely going to try it this year if I can keep the measurements straight...it looks delicious and if Doogan like it...
ReplyDeleteThanks Theresa! :-)
XO,
Jane
Ahhhhh, your snow is breathtaking...and all the views you have of it from your cottage. How cute is that Doogie with his snow ice cream. Oh my goodness, he just gets cuter and cuter. Isn't winter lovely. Lots of lOvE to YoU...ox`kerrie
ReplyDeleteSNOW Ice Cream!!! Oh MY! I MUST try some of this snow ice cream!!! VANILLA!!! One of my most favorite things in the whole wide world!! Definitely going to give this a try Teresa!! I just love that you photograph every single step of the way!!! And I also love that you gave some of this super delicious and special SNOW Ice Cream to DOOGAN!! We get ALOT of snow here in UPstate NY...but we haven't got alot yet. When we do...this is the very FIRST thing I am going to do!!! Thank you so much for sharing this terrific idea!!! Love it!! xoxo Jeanne
ReplyDeleteThat looks so good!
ReplyDeleteI am in Texas and we hardly ever get snow. If we do, it is just a little bit and you can still see the ground.
Can you send me some snow by priority mail? ~grins~
I can't believe that you have more snow than we do in Canada right now (at least where I live in Canada). Think it is so neat that you added some to your home-made ice cream, which by the way, looks delicious :)
ReplyDeleteOoh...that looks so yummy!!!
ReplyDeleteWe get plenty of snow here in Indiana!!
Nice recipe. Hey for the egg part, if you are worried about raw eggs, you might want to look into pasteurized eggs. They eliminate any risk of salmonella, so you won't have to worry. I know these come in handy, especially around this time when everyone is cooking and baking more.
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa~ We made this all the time when I was a kid in PA...and we never worried about what might be "in" the snow! However, we never put an egg in it...so I suppose ours was not as rich tasting. I don't know if I would do it here with our snow where we are surrounded by paper mills and I worry about the quality of our snow. Enjoy a dish for me, sweet Teresa...it looks ever so good! Hugs- Diana
ReplyDeleteomg--I'm a city girl and have never seen (or heard) of snow ice cream--it looks delicious but I don't think I can try it here in NYC! So glad to have found your blog!
ReplyDeleteYes...yes...yes!!! We made snow ice cream when I was a little girl. We just did not get to make it very often, because big snows do not come very often in Tennessee (or in Alabama). I guess the limited amount of snow just makes it more of a treat. Happy eating!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's popular in Vermont with maple syrup, but I haven't tried it. I know if Doogan likes it then Kiki will :o)
ReplyDeleteHugs!
I LOVE your snow!! And, I LOVE snow ice cream! I've never heard of snow ice cream before, so thank you for showing me how!!
ReplyDeleteKeep warm, sweet girl... And please, send the snow my way!!
Just found your blog, I love it! I've never heard of snow ice cream before, it looks really good!
ReplyDeleteI have not had snow cream since I was a kid. Stinks that I dont have any vanilla.
ReplyDeleteI have NEVER had Snow Cream before...but we live in Atlanta, and just had a huge storm, so we just made this tonight! So fun...and yummy! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI made this today for the kids. It was awesome! We live in Chicago. We have LOTS of snow!! It's sitting outside the front door now keeping cold! Thanks for the "recipe"!!
ReplyDeleteDid I miss this post?!? How did I miss this post?!?!?
ReplyDeleteSNOW ICE CREAM! That's it! I'm moving! I hope you have an extra bedroom for the 3 of us. We were promised snow today....and got NONE. NONE! I want my snow ice cream!!!
I'm 42 and I grew up on this. It's the best thing EVER! I raised my kids on it and now I have a 6 month old granddaughter that will get her first taste of this tomorrow! YAY!
ReplyDeleteWe always made this when we visited my Grandparents in Spokane, WA. The BEST FOOD EVER!!!
ReplyDeleteWe make it with 1/2 & 1/2, brown sugar & vanilla. Yummy.. thinking I'm over due for a road trip.
